EA Travel Information

In general, Greece does not have a strict dress code for visitors, and the climate is hot through the day and temperate at night, meaning minimal layers are required, and most can pack lighter than usual.

Here are some packing list suggestions for our upcoming trip:

1. Clothing:

  • Lightweight, comfortable clothing (shorts, t-shirts, dresses). Dress for hot weather
  • Swimwear and beach cover-ups
  • Light jacket or sweater for cooler evenings
  • Comfortable walking shoes for exploring the uneven terrains
  • Sandals or flip-flops
  • Sun hat and sunglasses
  • Outfits for our themed parties (to be announced four to six weeks before departure)

2. Toiletries:

  • Sunscreen
  • Insect repellent
  • Toiletries
  • Personal medications

3. Accessories:

  • Power bank or portable charger for electronics
  • Waterproof phone case or pouch
  • Travel adaptor (adaptor is needed for any devices with non-European plugs)
  • Cash, credit cards, and travel documents

4. Optional other items:

  • Waterproof dry bag for valuables
  • A refillable water bottle to stay hydrated
  • A good book or Kindle to read while lounging on the deck
  • A deck of cards for impromptu games with your new cruise friends
  • Inflatable pool floats for swim stops (these can also be purchased in markets and supermarkets before jumping onboard).

Each guest is entitled to one piece of checked (hold) baggage, and the total sum of its length, width, and height must not exceed 160cm (62 inches) and the weight must not exceed 20kg (44lbs).

Additional baggage may be permitted but this will be at the cost of the guest.

Luggage Tip - Don’t forget that you will most likely buy things while travelling, so make sure you have some extra space in your luggage.

From the Airport, there are urban express buses that can take you to the city center. The journey time is approximately 40 minutes - 1 hour and the fare is approximately €6.

Taxis are also available at the designated taxi waiting area located at the Arrivals Level. The airport is also accessible by Athens Metro, using line 3, which takes approximately 45 to 50 minutes to reach the city center and vice versa. There are ATM machines at the airport if you need local currency.

Check-in is from 2:00 PM on your departure day. We will confirm all times on the day. If possible, we will try to open check-in earlier, however, this depends on the cleaning crew.

As the ships are arranged differently each week according to directions from the Port Authority, we cannot give you a specific port location in advance. We will communicate the exact dock location via WhatsApp and email on the day or the evening prior to departure.

Once you arrive at the location of your ship, you will be greeted by a check-in representative. You can then leave your bags with the onboard crew, relax, grab a drink and get to know your fellow travelers!

Feel free to explore the area near the exact dock location if you arrive early, but remember that you’ll need to be back on board before the scheduled departure.

The official currency of Greece is the Euro (EUR). It's recommended that you exchange your currency for Euros before you travel or withdraw Euros from an ATM.

Here are a few tips:

1. Currency - You can pay for goods and services using Euros (EUR), which is the official currency of Greece. Some businesses may accept other currencies like US dollars or British pounds, but the exchange rate may not be favorable, and you may end up paying more than necessary.

2. Cash - It's always a good idea to carry some cash with you, especially for small purchases or in case you encounter a business that doesn't accept credit cards. Most restaurants and cafes in Greece will accept payment by credit card, but some smaller establishments may only accept cash.

3. ATMs - It's important to be aware of potential fees when using ATMs in Greece. Your bank may charge a foreign transaction fee or a fee for using an out-of-network ATM. Additionally, some ATMs in Greece may charge a transaction fee for international cards. To avoid these fees, it's a good idea to withdraw larger amounts of cash less frequently, or to use a credit card for purchases whenever possible.

When using them, the ATMs ask if you would like to use their or your bank's conversion rate. You should always choose the local currency, this way you can avoid the Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC), a currency conversion rate added by the payment processor.

4. Credit Cards - In Greece, most businesses that accept credit cards will accept Visa and Mastercard, which are the two most widely accepted credit card companies in the country. American Express and other credit card companies are also accepted at many businesses, but not as widely as Visa and Mastercard. It's wise to use them to reduce the number of times you need to get cash from ATMs.

Greece has several international airports that serve major cities such as Athens, Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Corfu, and Rhodes, among others.

To get an idea on what routes are possible and how much flights cost, you can use internet travel companies, e.g. www.skyscanner.com and www.momondo.com, which give price comparisons of all the major airlines.

Flight Tips:

  • Moving your travel day one day forward or back can provide price and route options that are not there on certain days or create a significant difference in the price.
  • The website www.seatguru.com allows you to see the plane layout you are looking to book your flight on and gives details on the best and worst seats onboard.
  • If you have the time, we always recommend spending a few days at the linking European country. There are so many fantastic places to visit on your way in and out of Greece.

In the unlikely event that you are unable to make the scheduled departure, do not worry. We will provide you with directions on how you can meet us at the next island destination. All of the islands that we will be visiting have ferry lines available, so catching up to the yacht is usually not a problem.

Please keep us updated on the day of the departure so that we can let you know where we will be and how you can arrange transportation to the yacht.

Athens is one of the world’s most iconic and culturally-rich cities, with a history spanning over 3,400 years. Here are several interesting sites around Athens that you should check out:

  • The Acropolis: This ancient citadel is the most iconic site in Athens. This is where you can find the Parthenon, Erechtheion, and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus.
  • Plaka: This charming neighborhood sits beneath the Acropolis. It has winding streets filled with shops, cafes, and traditional Greek restaurants.
  • Ancient Agora: Ancient Agora was the heart of ancient Athens and served as a marketplace and civic center. Heere, you can visit the Temple of Hephaestus, and ruins of important ancient structures.
  • National Archaeological Museum: This museum is one of the world's most important archaeological museums.
  • Syntagma Square: This is home to the Greek Parliament building and the iconic Evzones guards in traditional dress.
  • Mount Lycabettus: If you are up for a bit of adventure, you may take a hike to the top of Mount Lycabettus where you can enjoy panoramic views of Athens. It's especially beautiful at sunset.
  • Monastiraki Flea Market: Monastiraki has a variety of shops selling everything from antiques to local crafts and unique souvenirs.

Each country is different, so we suggest that you check and clarify the information regarding visa details with your travel agent.

Luggage loss or delay during travel is an unfortunate but common occurrence; therefore, it’s not a bad idea to consider buying an Apple AirTag or a similar tracking device for your luggage. These devices can conveniently track your bags’ location through your smartphone, significantly improving your chances of locating them promptly in case of any mishaps.

However, in more rural areas or smaller islands, you may encounter fewer English speakers. Once you have booked your spot, you will begin to receive email information about the trip. If you ever have any questions, ask one of our staff or message us at [email protected]

EA Inclusions & Exclusions

Dinners are more of an event than just grabbing a bite to eat. We will have a combination of dinners on the yacht and at authentic family-owned restaurants on the islands. Where possible, we will also have entertainment at these events.

Dinner, transport, entertainment and a bottle of wine per person are included. Anything we drink over that amount we will split and can all chip in for the tip.
